Ainsley is passionate about working with adult clients to identify, explore and address the factors which are frustrating them in their attempts to achieve their work, family and life goals.

She believes that it is possible to alleviate the distress and disappointment we experience from time to time in our professional and personal lives, by insightfully investigating the underlying emotion which is clouding our ability to problem solve effectively and make adjustments to the set of circumstances presented to us. She is rewarded by the opportunity to partner with individuals to help navigate their practical and emotional challenges in such a way as to minimise psychological suffering and alleviate distress.

Her approach is Trauma-Informed and is Cognitive Behavioural in nature. Within this framework Ainsley tailors creative, customised and solution focussed approaches to individual and group counselling. She utilises a range of therapeutic techniques with her clients including Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy; therapies for structural dissociation, Mindfulness; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Dialectical Behaviour Therapy; and Imagery Rehearsal Therapy.

She has a solid background in working with individuals and groups facing life and work challenges. Some of the issues Ainsley is able to provide support and guidance for include:

  • Stress, Anxiety, and Depression;
  • Phobias;
  • Panic Disorder;
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder;
  • Adult survivors of childhood trauma or adversity;
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder;
  • Self-defeating patterns of behaviour;
  • Significant life changes and transitions;
  • Grief and Loss;
  • Conflict and Anger;
  • Loss of focus or motivation;
  • Career and/or life dissatisfaction;
  • Relationship Issues;
  • Work Life Balance;
  • Career transition – retirement, return to work, redeployment, career change;
  • Leadership or performance anxiety.

Ainsley is passionate about working with clients to help them make healthy and adaptive work and life decisions, particularly during times of change or transition. The world and the workplace is ever changing and it can feel very overwhelming and exhausting trying just to ‘keep up’, let alone take some degree of control of your own decisions when the goal posts seem to keep moving.

Having grown up in regional Queensland and worked within the mining and rural sectors early in her career, Ainsley is down to earth and practical in her approach to counselling. She has spent 12 years of her professional life in Melbourne working with clients from a wide range of backgrounds from corporate executives, lawyers and accountants to those in manufacturing, correctional services, health, retail and government. Having also studied and worked within Human Resources, she has an intimate and hands on knowledge of the workplace and organisational dynamics and how these interact with and affect psychological issues.

Ainsley is married with a young family, and has very happily re-settled in her home state of Queensland.
